Mixed drinks or cocktails are drinks consisting of two or more ingredients stirred or shaken. In many years past all mixed drinks and cocktails included a spirit as the base. The main spirits are Vodka, gin, rum, whisky and brandy. Vodka is the most popular alcohol used in mixed drinks. Rum comes in many shades including white, light, and dark varieties so it can also be used for many mixed drinks. With the increasing number of mixed drinks recipes available the old standards of mixing a cocktail or mixed drink are now so different. They could have any number of ingredients from the base spirits to any thing on the market. Also the difference between a mixed drink and a cocktail is only by the term they are synonymous with each other.
Almost every ingredient on the planet is used to mixed some sort of alcoholic drink. From Juices, fruits, vegetables, spices, and every flavor under the sun. We will look at a few our favorite mixed drinks and what you will need to prepare them.
Sex On The Beach Recipe
1 oz Vodka
1 oz Peach Schnapps
1 oz raspberry mix
2/3 orange juice
1/3 cranberry juice
Preparation Instructions: Mix all ingredients over an ice filled glass stir and serve.
Kamekaazi Recipe
1 oz Vodka
1.5 oz Lime Juice
1.5 oz Triple Sec
Preparation Instructions: Pour ingredients into a ice filled shaker and shake it until the shaker is very cold. Strain the drink into the shot glass.
Apple Martini Recipe
1 part Vodka
1 part Sour Apple Pucker
1 part Apple juice
Preparation Instructions:Shake ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into a martini glass. Optional garnish with a slice of green apple.
Salty Dog Recipe
1 1/2 oz vodka
grapefruit juice
Preparation Instructions:Salt the rim of a highball glass and fill with grapefruit juice. Then add the vodka.
Adios Motherfucker Recipe
1/2 oz vodka
1/2 oz tequila
1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz rum
1/2 oz Blue Curacao liqueur
2 oz sweet and sour mix
2 oz 7-Up soda
Preparation Instructions:Fill glass with ice. Add all ingredients except the soda. Fill glass with soda. Stir lightly and serve.
Red Bull Vodka Recipe
1 can Red Bull
2 shots vodka
Preparation Instructions: Fill glass with ice pure 2 oz vodka. Then fill with 1 can Red Bull. Serve.
Each mixed drink is not really a work of art until it is combined with the type of glass to serve it in and the way you garnish it. Presentation is everything. If you made a Apple Martini and served it in a beer mug it just wouldn't have the same appeal. So when you're mixing those drinks remember to take note of how you want them to appear.
